Evacuation

October 10, 2016:

Well this pain called Mathew dropped in and I was forced out of town for a few days so you have my apologies for dropping out on everyone. Spent a few days with some dear friends of ours on the other side of the state and spent the time glued to the TV watching the Weather Channel. Although some time went by where I wondered whether or not I still had a home, in the end things did work out for the best. Aside from the few days of cleaning a yard, skimming the pool, and getting a fence fixed I learned a couple of things. For one, my emergency preparedness pretty much sucks. All those years of making it through hurricanes was complete crap. My dad did it all. He prepped the house and watched over us. All I did was hang out and bitch about not having air conditioning or cold sodas. Preparing your own home (each house is different) and taking care of your own family is a nightmare and a real responsibility. This is not reality TV! Being in the position where you have a limited amount of time, limited space, and you have to be out the door not knowing if you will ever again see anything that you have left behind gives you perspective. I can go on and on about some transcendental BS but the bottom line is that I need a real evacuation/survival plan for my home and have already started rethinking where I will be putting my money from now on and you should do the same. Don’t wait until you have to do it for real and with no plan to go by. It is still possible today to go from the 21st century to 19th century in less than a heartbeat.
